Peace Haven By Suman Ghosh Selected for World Premiere at The Busan International Film Festival

Peace Haven has been selected for its world premiere at The Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in October 2015. Peace Haven will be a part of the prestigious “A Window on Asian Cinema” selection at the festival and is the only Bengali film in this category. Other films screened in this section include the work of international auteurs, Jafar Panahi and Tsai Ming Liang, as well as recent films from acclaimed Indian filmmakers, Neeraj Ghywan and Mani Ratnam. In its 20th year now, Busan has established itself as one of the world’s largest, and most renowned, film festivals.
Peace Haven is the story of three elderly friends who decide to build their own mortuary. As they work on constructing a morgue for themselves, they also embark on a quest for meaning and rediscover through the past, present, and future the holistic experiences that life bestows. The main cast comprises of three luminaries of Bengali cinema: Soumitra Chatterjee, Arun Mukhopadhyay, and Poran Bandopadhay. Peace Haven won the Asia Cinema Fund for Script Development in 2013
Director, Suman Ghosh, is an internationally known filmmaker who has enjoyed mainstream success with films such as Kadambari (2015) and Nobel Thief (2012) as well as won numerous awards and honors for independent ventures including Shyamal Uncle Turns off the Lights (2012). Shyamal Uncle also world premiered at Busan and went on to be screened at over twenty-five film festivals across the world. Peace Haven is jointly produced by Arindam Ghosh, Areendam Chanda, Pallavi Rastogi, and Tapas Ray under the banner of Random Walk Films.
